about
It’s National Suicide Prevention Week and we wanted to take this opportunity to help spread awareness and hope to those suffering with suicidal thoughts. I (matthew) have been hospitalized a few times and have had a long history with mental illness. All of us in this band know at least one person who has decided to make the ultimate sacrifice. This is a issue that we feel needs to be talked about more openly. I hope this song speaks to anyone who feels the same way. All the proceeds will be donated to The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, the nation's largest non-profit dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide.
Hey Ana I wish that we’d been closer friends
Hey Ana remember when we got drunk in your basement?
And all the words I wish I’d said to you
Now that I heard what you did
Hey Ana they’ll never be said
Hey Ana I’ve been that low. I know it’s hard
Hey Ana I wish I’d been there from the start
When you said “hey that was fun last night. Sometime we should grab a beer”
Hey Ana I wish that I was there
Hey Ana I’m trying my best to live in the now
My demons aren’t dead, just dormant
But they’re always around
And when they come back I’ll fight
But will they take me down someday?
Hey Ana they just won’t go away
Despite how good this year has been
Well there’s always this fear
That soon enough the tides will change
The coast ain’t always clear
Now you’re down on the ocean floor
I’m standing on the pier
Hey Ana I’m trying to persevere
Been following Somos for many years, feeling that they had an opus in them...well, here it is. Driving pop-punk sensibilities lend an upbeat tone in contrast to the grim lyrical proceedings, and they absolutely pull it off. Evocative music that's been on repeat for me all month long. RIP, Phil PaintedDogs
